    On "Spider-Man 2" Branded Bases

    Following a day of backlash from fans and media, MLB and Columbia Pictures nixed branded bases for their "Spider-Man 2" promotion. Bud Selig said if the logo on the bases "bothered some people, frankly it isn't worth a great debate about it." But as MLB positions the move as the league being sensitive to fans' reactions, few columnists are buying into that notion. There are also reports that teams were left in the dark about the promotion, with some saying they were not given the chance to approve the on-base ads, as promised.
