CAFFEINE BOOST: Starbucks Corp. named former Reebok Brand President MARTIN COLES to head its international unit beginning in mid-April, replacing PETER MASLEN, who resigned last June due to health reasons (Mult. 3/11).
EXECS: In this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Terry Lefton reports that Coca-Cola named AMBER STEELE Manager of Global Event Operations/Worldwide Sports which includes being responsible for Coca-Cola's Olympic and World Cup sponsorships. Previously, Steele was with FIFA's sponsorship group. Also, former ESPN exec JEFF GONYO has left MLB's marketing and advertising department "after a two- to three-month stint" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/15 issue)....The Magic announced that COO JOHN WEISBROD has assumed the duties of GM, replacing JOHN GABRIEL, who will remain with the team as a Advisor & Regional Scout. Gabriel has been with the Magic since their inception in '89, serving as VP/Basketball Operations, Dir of Player Personnel, Dir of Scouting and assistant coach before becoming GM in '96 (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 3/12).
