Outkast Among The Performers On
Tap For NBA’s Showcase Game

The KERLAN-JOBE ORTHOPAEDIC CLINIC, whose physicians care for the Lakers, Dodgers and NHL Kings, has paid $2.65M to the government "to settle a whistle-blower lawsuit alleging it overbilled medicare and other federal health-care programs over an eight-year period" (L.A. TIMES, 1/21)....The NBA yesterday announced that OUTKAST will perform during the player introductions for the NBA All-Star Game. CHRISTINA AGUILERA will perform the U.S. national anthem and NELLY FURTADO will sing the Canadian national anthem (NBA)....The 120-foot-long paper scroll on which author JACK KEROUAC wrote "ON THE ROAD" is in the midst of a 13-stop, four-year national library and college tour. Colts Owner JIM IRSAY bought the scroll for nearly $2.5M several years ago (LAS VEGAS SUN, 1/20).

ON THE AIR: German sports station DSF yesterday announced that BORIS BECKER will host a half-hour talk show beginning in the spring (AP, 1/21)....FSN's "BDSSP" introduced the first annual "BDSSP" Student Film Festival Presented by Sony Electronics. The grand prize winner in the fiction category will win a summer internship with 20th Century Fox Films, while the non-fiction grand prize winner earns a summer internship with "BDSSP" (FSN).
