Its NASCAR Relationship
With less than a month before the green flag drops at Daytona, Nextel has unveiled several marketing initiatives around its sponsorship of NASCAR's top series. In addition to ads that debuted this past weekend, Nextel is rolling out phone- and Web-based products and services, offering fans access to race broadcasts, alerts, news and other content. Unlike its predecessor RJR, Nextel says that it will not take an active role in shaping the on-track product. Accordingly, NASCAR today reveals the anticipated changes to its points system.
