| Jets Cap Waiting List Fees At $500 |
The Jets have reformed their season-ticket waiting list policy, agreeing with NY AG Eliot Spitzer "to a cap of $500 on waiting list fees [and] a deduction of fees paid from the cost of" eventual season-ticket purchases, according to Colin Stephenson of the Newark STAR-LEDGER, who notes fans will also receive a "full refund of the initial $50 fee if [they] remove themselves from the waiting list." Spitzer's office "approached the Jets after several newspaper stories over the summer criticized the team's practice of a $50 annual fee to keep a name on the waiting list." In a statement, the Jets said, "We amended our wait list policy after speaking with many fans, to have the fee applied to their eventual season-ticket purchase. Subsequently, we were pleased to work with [Spitzer's] office on some straightforward clarifications. We have now developed a policy that is sure to benefit all our fans." Fans may also "give up their place on the list if they move out of the area" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 11/11).
