| Blank Refusing To Settle |
Falcons Owner Arthur Blank said yesterday that he will not settle the sexual discrimination lawsuit filed against him by former Falcons VP/HR Carol Faubert, according to Matt Kempner of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. Blank described the suit as "baseless" and "inflammatory," and said, "You don't settle when it comes to principle. ... All this woman wants is some sort of settlement, some sort of financial gain. She offered not to have a lawsuit if we gave her $5[M]." Faubert, who was fired in February after being with the team less than a year, alleges that Blank's "treatment of women was generally abusive." Blank said that to his knowledge, Faubert "never mentioned concerns about sexual discrimination" to him or anyone else in the organization, adding, "There is nothing in there that is not based on a distortion of fact or a fabrication." Falcons VP/Community Affairs Susan Bass said that Faubert's allegations "paint a picture 'that's completely opposite of the Arthur Blank I know'" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 8/5).
