NFL Exec Says Carson Not Out Of The Running For L.A. Stadium
Published August 5, 2003
NFL VP/Communications Greg Aiello said yesterday that the league "has not given up on the possibility" of a stadium in Carson, and in L.A., Sam Farmer notes that Aiello's comments contradict a report that the NFL had "all but eliminated the Carson site from stadium consideration." Aiello: "We are continuing to investigate Carson, as well as other potential sites in the [L.A.] area that would be suitable for a potential state-of-the-art stadium." Farmer cites league sources as saying that the NFL "has no plans to build on the toxic landfill in Carson," and that when the concept was suggested, the league "did not know that developer GMS Realty did not own the rights to the site" (L.A. TIMES, 8/5).
