LEADING LADY: In N.Y., Lena Williams profiles Leslie and calls her the WNBA's "most visible and highly touted player." But Leslie's "popularity is not universal," as she is "perceived by some fans and some WNBA peers as surly, aloof and self-absorbed — a reputation that players mention only privately." After Leslie was named MVP at last year's All-Star game at MCI Center, "many in the sell-out crowd of 19,487 booed." Leslie is a part-time fashion model and spokesperson for breast cancer awareness. ESPN analyst Nancy Lieberman: "Lisa is a diva, and I say that with affection. She has it all: beauty, brains and athleticism. With Leslie, you think of a celebrity and a little untouchable, like Anna Kournikova. She brings class, she's sassy in her own way, she brings fashion. All of that and she has the championship rings to back it up" (N.Y. TIMES, 7/11).
