    Paul Kariya's $1.2M one-year deal to play for the Avalanche next season is raising eyebrows among hockey execs and media observers. The figure marks an 88% decrease from what Kariya made in Anaheim last season, and he went to Colorado in a package deal along with his friend Teemu Selanne.
