AFL Set To Ink Gatorade, Aaron's Rent As League Sponsors
Published February 7, 2003
The AFL will announce on Monday two new sponsorship deals, one in the isotonic beverage category with Gatorade, the other with Aaron's Rent. Both are one-year deals valued in the mid-six-figures. Gatorade becomes the official isotonic beverage and sports drink of the AFL and gets exclusive placement on the sidelines of every league game. Gatorade is in discussions with NBC on a media buy. As an official AFL partner, Aaron's receives logo placement on the jerseys of every road team (Army's patch is on home jerseys). Aaron's will continue as a team sponsor of the GA Force. The company is also in talks with NBC on a media commitment. AFLP Exec VP Glenn Horine said of both deals being for one year, "These companies have a preferred entry point to a multiyear partnership that will be finalized at the end of the 2003 season" (THE DAILY).
