The first non-MLB report, at 5:24 into the broadcast, was on Heat C Alonzo Mourning likely missing the entire '02-03 NBA season because of his kidney ailment. The first report on Marshall-VA Tech was at 10:09 (THE DAILY).
ON THE AIR: Former Univ. of IA football coach Hayden Fry, HBO boxing announcer Jim Lampley and Lakers F Rick Fox are scheduled to appear on "Best Damn Sports Show Period." Braves P John Smoltz will host "This Week In Baseball" Saturday.
