College Football Game To Be Aired At Four Movie Theaters
Published August 30, 2002
Regal Entertainment Group's Regal CineMedia (RCM) will present the September 7 CO State Univ.-UCLA football game at four theaters in Denver and Irvine, CA, according to Nicole Sperling of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, who reports tickets will cost $6-10. RCM Exec VP/Business Development Ray Nutt: "This is an important test to see what our customers think of this." Sperling reports the game "marks a collaborative effort" among RCM, FSN, HDNet and DirecTV. FSN "granted RCM permission to air the game." The game will air in the two markets on FSN West in Irvine and FSN Rocky Mountain in Denver. RCM CEO Kurt Hall: "The whole mission statement of RCM is creating different uses for our theaters. Now that we have the digital capabilities, this is the obvious place to start as certain sports programming is very compelling on the big screen" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 8/30).
