In Newark, Greg Bishop reports before last night's Game One of the Sparks-Liberty WNBA Finals, league President Val Ackerman addressed the media on a variety of subjects. Ackerman discussed the CBA, which expires September 15, franchise "possibilities in San Antonio and Hartford, new uniforms next season and the league in general" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 8/30)....The NATIONAL POST's Sean Fitz-Gerald noted the CFL BOG have yet to name a replacement for former Commissioner Michael Lysko. The BOG "talked about four to nine serious candidates at a meeting two days ago in Toronto, but they are not confident a new commissioner will be in place" by the Grey Cup in late November. Possible candidates include former MLB COO Paul Beeston, Toronto attorney Gordon Kirke and former Flames President Ron Bremner (NATIONAL POST, 8/29).
