USOC PRESIDENCY: USA TODAY's Vicki Michaelis writes that '68 Games Silver Medalist LARRY HOUGH "is the only surprise among four nominees submitted" yesterday for USOC president. Hough, who runs VA-based Sato Travel, joins USOC VPs PAUL GEORGE and MARTY MANKAMYER as well as DONNA DE VARONA as possible successors to SANDY BALDWIN (USA TODAY, 7/16). In Denver, Paula Parrish writes that the USOC "will not release the names of candidates until at least" July 24, after its ethics commission has "completed a full review of the nominees, including their resumes" (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 7/16). In CO Springs, Meri-Jo Borzilleri writes that the "earliest the USOC will have a president is likely mid-August" (CO Springs GAZETTE, 7/16). In L.A., Alan Abrahamson writes that no candidate "could immediately be declared a front-runner" (L.A. TIMES, 7/16).
