The Univ. of OR (UO) has placed a 53-by-172 foot billboard of WR Keenan Howry in Times Square, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com, who noted UO placed an 80-by-100 foot, $250,000 billboard of QB Joey Harrington on a billboard in Times Square last season. Rovell: "While Harrington's sign was meant to promote his candidacy for the Heisman Trophy, this year's billboard is announcing Oregon's alliance with the YES Network. ... The deal will be officially introduced later this week." YES spokesperson Bob Davis noted that replays of all 12 UO games will air on YES from 2:00am-6:00am ET on Sundays. UO Dir of Media Relations David Williford said that the billboard and the "cost to produce the replays will be about" $300,000. Williford added that there are about 4,000 alums of UO in the N.Y. area (ESPN.com, 7/15).
