PepsiCo Inks Jaguars As First NFL Team Since League Deal
Published June 28, 2002
The Jaguars signed a deal with PepsiCo yesterday that gives the company the right to serve Pepsi products in Alltel Stadium, as well as place signs there and use the team's logo for marketing purposes, according to Kristen Moczynski of the FL TIMES-UNION, who notes Coca-Cola has been the Jaguars soft drink sponsor since '95. As part of the new partnership, Pepsi will sponsor the PepsiCo Plaza, an interactive pre-game area at the stadium. While Pepsi signed a deal with the NFL in March to acquire rights to the NFL logo and all 32 team logos, the Jaguars "are the first team Pepsi has signed since that deal and its only NFL team in Florida." Coca-Cola still serves more individual teams. PepsiCo spokesperson Dave DeCecco: "At this point, we have fewer, but we're looking to add" (FL TIMES-UNION, 6/28).
