  • TRAC yesterday formally unveiled its cars and announced a partnership with SMI, which will host ten events at five tracks. The series is targeting a launch next April and will race on Saturdays, up against NASCAR's BGN Series. While a three-car franchise fee of $11M has been set, many questions remain, such as finding team owners, securing a TV deal (although a deal with Disney could be close) and finalizing its rules. But longtime auto racing writer Ed Hinton says TRAC is well thought-out and it could "quickly surpass" CART and the IRL and potentially threaten NASCAR.
