Published January 31, 2002
The AKRON BEACON JOURNAL's Tom Reed reported the expansion UHL Canton Xpress unveiled its logo, which Owner Dr. Bernard Bubanic "is calling 'the little engine that could.'" Bubanic hopes the "team will catch on in an area which doesn't have a strong hockey tradition." Tickets for the Xpress will range from $8-18, while season-ticket packages "purchased before July 1 start at $266 and go up to $600." After the earlybird deadline, prices will "start at $296 and go up to $665." The club will play at Canton Memorial Civic Center, which will include "Club Xpress, a bar and lounge that allows fans to dine and socialize while also watching the game" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 1/30).
