Spalding's Tee Box To Cash Register Marketing Program
Published January 31, 2002
GOLFWEEK's Dave Seanor reported that Spalding Sports Worldwide "plans to give away more than 2 million golf balls in a six-day sampling blitz at green-grass shops." The "Tee Box to Cash Register" program begins on February 16 when "6,000 courses in southern and southwestern markets each will give away 120 two-ball packs of Spalding's new Top-Flite XL 3000 ball." Spalding will follow up one week later with 4,000 facilities distributing "96 two-ball sleeves of the newest additions to the Strata line, including the Tour Ultimate 2." The marketing program goes nationwide in April and concludes with June giveaways in northern markets. Spalding will promote the program "with advertisements on PGA Tour telecasts, on The Golf Channel, in major golf publications and in USA Today, which will print regionalized versions of the advertisements listing participating facilities by state" (GOLFWEEK, 1/26 issue).
