WELCOME BACK: The Redskins hired JOE MENDES as VP/Football Operations. Mendes was the Redskins' contract negotiator before leaving the club in '00 after eight seasons. Mendes worked briefly for DC attorney LON BABBY before joining Phoenix-based sports agents ERIC METZ and ETHAN LOCK (WASHINGTON POST, 1/23). ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reported Mendes will also handle front office duties in non-football related areas (ESPN.com, 1/22).
EXECS: Vans, Inc. has hired ROBERT NAGEL as Senior VP/Sales & Apparel. Nagel was Dir of Sales & Marketing for adidas America (Vans)....Golf For Women named SUSAN REED as Editor-in-Chief and KIMBERLY ANDERSON as Publisher. From '96-00, Reed was Conde Nast's Women's Sports & Fitness Features Editor. Anderson was named Golf For Women Advertising Dir in October '01 (Golf For Women)....Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) named MICHELLE FOLEY as VP/HR.
