Jordan's Wife Juanita Files For Divorce After 12 Years
Published January 8, 2002
JUANITA JORDAN has "taken the first steps toward ending her 12-year marriage" to MICHAEL JORDAN, filing for divorce in Lake (IL) County, according to Amanda Vogt of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Juanita Jordan cited "irreconcilable differences" in seeking a divorce. Vogt notes that Juanita Jordan "seeks permanent custody of the couple's three children" 13-year-old JEFFREY, 11-year-old MARQUES and nine-year-old JASMINE. Juanita Jordan also seeks the 25,000-square-foot "marital residence" in Highland Park, IL, and half of the couple's property (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 1/8). In N.Y., Bill Hutchinson calls the report a "bombshell blow" to Michael Jordan's "sterling image." Hutchinson: "An admitted high-stakes gambler, Jordan has frequently been hounded by supermarket tabloid reports that he has also been a philanderer. He has consistently denied the off-court rumors" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 1/8).
