Tiger To Sport New Logo During Weekday Rounds This Year
Published January 8, 2002
Nike, "seeking to increase the exposure of its Tiger Woods Collection of golf apparel, shoes and accessories," and Woods "have agreed that he will wear a cap with the Tiger Woods Collection logo during early-round play in PGA Tour events" during the '02 season, according to E. Michael Johnson of GOLF WORLD BUSINESS. Woods will continue to wear the Nike swoosh on his cap during weekend play. Nike Dir of Apparel David Hagler: "We launched the new logo at last year's U.S. Open. It had been on the (sole) of shoes and hang tags on apparel, but we decided we needed to give that logo and the Collection more exposure. This is a great way to accomplish that. Tiger was very agreeable. He's 100[%] supportive of his collection." The Tiger Woods Collection "now accounts for nearly 14[%] of all Nike Golf apparel sales," up from 4% two years ago (GOLF WORLD BUSINESS, 1/7).
