Senators Set To Officially Announce Sale Of Ownership Shares
Published January 8, 2002
The Senators are expected to announce today that 1,358 ownership shares in the team are for sale, according to Geoff Matthews of the OTTAWA SUN, who notes that each share will cost C$150,000, plus an additional C$30,000 in interest and financing. The team expects to net C$185M from the sale. The shares will not include an ownership position in the Corel Centre, which is owned by Senators Chair Rod Bryden, and Bryden will "remain in control" of the team. Matthews notes that Toronto-based Norfolk Capital is "understood to have been brokering the deal" (OTTAWA SUN, 1/8).
