Nike's "Enjoy The Weather" Urges Year-Round Participation
Published December 13, 2001
Nike has introduced its latest ad campaign, "Enjoy the Weather," which is designed to promote the company's winter product line, including the Air Shasta and Air Contego. The three Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, spots feature athletes as they tackle the elements in various U.S. cities. One spot features Olympic runner Marion Jones following a snowplow, while another shows Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong leading other riders as they go off-course. Nike U.S. Brand Initiative Dir Dave Larson: "Our objective with 'Enjoy the Weather' is to inspire and motivate people to continue pursuing their physical fitness goals, or just to stay active outside, no matter what weather they encounter. Nike helps them do that by creating great new products."
DETAILS: The TV spots will coincide with other advertising, consumer and media events, as well as a dedicated Web site. Nike's "Enjoy the Weather" print ads, featuring a two-page layout, are appearing in Maxim, SI and ESPN Magazine. The TV spots are running on primetime network and cable programming, late-night programming and during sporting events and sports highlight shows. The first of the ads began airing on October 31, and the campaign will run through December. The following details the spots and allows you to download for full viewing (THE DAILY).
