Broome County Icemen Acquired by Auto Proprietor
Published October 10, 2001
The Binghamton PRESS’ Scott Lauber reported David Wright will be the new "rookie owner of the BC Icemen, the United Hockey League franchise that begins its fifth season Friday." Wright’s newly acquired team has "never averaged more than 3,073 and bottomed out at 2,873 last season," but he hopes to change that by through marketing and investments in the community. Wright has "promotions in place for 30 out of 37 home games" to attract fans and maintain interest. The new owner of the Iceman also said "he’ll do whatever he can to bring an American Hockey League team back to Binghamton" (Binghamton PRESS 10/09).
