Quad City Mallards Sold To Victory Sports Group
Published September 13, 2001
The QUAD CITY TIMES’ Craig DeVrieze reported that "the Quad City Mallards now are Howard’s Ducks." The hockey club’s "long-awaited sale" to Howard Cornfield’s Victory Sports Group was recently announced. Victory purchased the club from majority Owner Dr. Eric Marganau and United Sports Ventures Inc. Cornfield will be President of both Victory Sports and the Mallards and report to Victory Sports COO Mike Tatoian, who previously served as GM of the Quad City River Bandits. Tatoian’s immediate concern "will be the start-up of a new Northern League baseball franchise in Gary IN," which will begin play next year in a new $30M stadium (QUAD CITY TIMES, 9/11).
