Modell Unhappy With Panel's Decision Regarding Naming Rights
Published July 24, 2001
A panel of arbitrators ruling July 6 in a case brought by the Orioles said that it "could find no evidence" that the Ravens paid the $10M the MD Stadium Authority said the team paid for the "rights to resell the name" of PSINet Stadium, according to Jon Morgan of the Baltimore SUN. The panel concluded that the naming rights "were granted without cost." But Ravens Owner Art Modell said "we paid our dues" and added, "They treat us like some fly-by-night operation. We paid our dues coming in. ... I paid more than I had to" (Baltimore SUN, 7/24).
