Saddledome To Lose Rooftop Logo 13 Months After Name Change
Published July 24, 2001
The giant Canadian Airlines logo "is slated to be removed" from the Saddledome's roof, more than a year after oil and gas investment firm Pengrowth Management purchased the naming rights to the facility, according to Maria Canton of the CALGARY HERALD. Saddledome GM Libby Raines said that Pengrowth "has no intention of emblazoning" its name on the roof, but added that the company, which had a reported C$1B value when it took over the naming rights in June '00, will be "putting up signage in plain sight to people on the ground, not in the air" (CALGARY HERALD, 7/21).
