TIME FOR A CHANGE: In N.Y., Alex Kuczynski reports that JOHN HUEY was named Editorial Dir of Time Inc., "in a newly expanded role that gives him direct daily control over more magazines than any other editor in Time Inc. history." It also "positions him as a possible heir to" Editor-In-Chief NORMAN PEARLSTINE. Huey will directly oversee a variety of magazines including Sports Illustrated (N.Y. TIMES, 7/11).
NBA, NBDL MOVEMENT: The NBA named RENNY GLEESON to the newly created position of Senior Dir of Global Media Properties & Internet Marketing (NBA)....The NBDL named ALFRED WHITE as President of the Asheville, NC, franchise. For the past three years, White was Commissioner of the Southern Conference (NBDL). In Charleston, SC, Jeff Hartsell wrote that during his tenure, White "established a strategic marketing plan and helped sign up sponsors such as Bi-Lo, Pepsi and Sony" (CHARLESTON POST & COURIER, 7/10).
EXECS: TOM FOLK, who had been Tigers VP/Park Operations since January '00, is no longer with the team. No reason was given for Folk's departure (DETROIT NEWS, 7/10)....The Patriots promoted SCOTT PIOLI to Dir of Player Personnel. Pioli joined the team in February '00 as Assistant Dir of Player Personnel (Patriots)....The Packers named ZAK GILBERT as a PR Assistant. Gilbert was in the Rockies PR department for the past few years (Packers).
