Published July 11, 2001
Pistons G Michael Curry was elected NBPA President yesterday at the union's annual summer meeting in the Bahamas, replacing Sonics C Patrick Ewing, according to Scott Soshnick of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Curry previously served as the union's First VP, and will serve a four-year term. Curry: "I'm looking forward to growing the union, getting more players involved, and conducting ourselves in a more businesslike fashion." Trail Blazers G Greg Anthony, who has "never held an executive board position," was chosen to replace Curry as First VP (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 7/10).
