And Miles To Go Before He Owns: New Red Sox Bidder Emerges
Published July 11, 2001
A group led by attorney Miles Prentice has emerged as another bidder for the Red Sox, according to Meg Vaillancourt of the BOSTON GLOBE, who notes Prentice and his group, which "includes several New Englanders," has been cleared by MLB to review the team's confidential financial records. Prentice has made three "unsuccessful bids" in the past to become an MLB owner, most recently for the Royals last year. In contrast to Prentice's large Royals bid group, sources said that his Red Sox bid group "is much smaller and will have deeper pockets" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/11).
