Names & Faces: Shaq Larger Than Life On L.A. Hotel
Published May 25, 2001
As part of Apple computer's "Think different" ad campaign, a "massive Shaquille O'Neal is being painted on the side" of downtown L.A.'s Hotel Figueroa beside "similarly sized portraits" of Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, according to Tim Brown of the L.A. TIMES. The images depict "Chamberlain's finger roll, Abdul-Jabbar's sky hook and O'Neal's two-handed dunk" (L.A. TIMES, 5/25).
THANK YOU, MR. WOODS: Nike Chair Phil Knight will honor Tiger Woods today by dedicating a building named for him on the Nike campus. The Tiger Woods Center is a "sprawling, 158,833-square-foot meeting and conference center, with all the technological bells and whistles" (USA TODAY, 5/25).
LOOKS LIKE ME: Yankees P Andy Pettitte "approved of the likeness" of his bobblehead doll the team gave away at yesterday's game. Pettitte: "It's got the same chin, a big nose." The Yankees also plan bobblehead promos around SS Derek Jeter and 1B Tino Martinez (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 5/25).
