ABC's coverage of last night's Univ. of OK-FL State Univ. FedEx Orange Bowl/BCS Championship earned a 17.0/26 preliminary overnight Nielsen rating, up 4% from last year's comparable 16.7/25 for VA Tech-FSU in the Sugar Bowl. Last night's rating is 1% lower than the 17.1/25 for the '99 BCS Championship Fiesta Bowl featuring FSU-Univ. of TN. The rating suffered from low viewership in L.A., where it earned a 12.9/21. But the BCS helped ABC win the night for the third straight evening (#5).
