WOOLF PARTNERSHIP OF PHILLY HOCKEY AGENT JUST A START?
Published November 6, 2000
Boston-based Woolf Associates announced a partnership
with Philadelphia-based NHL agent Rick Curran and his
Representation Inc. this morning. Among Curran's clients:
Flyers RW Mark Recchi, Red Wings LW Brendan Shanahan and
Rangers D Adam Graves. Curran will continue to work in
Philadelphia (Woolf). The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Liz
Mullen writes that with the move, Woolf has "embarked on a
new strategy of growth." Woolf CEO Kevin Murphy: "It's fair
to characterize this as the first of several moves to grow
Woolf. We don't aspire to be an IMG or an SFX or an
Octagon. But we will be bigger than we are now"
(SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/6). In Toronto, Eric Duhatschek
reports that Curran will "continue to personally handle his
long-term clients, many of whom have been associated with
him [for] more than 10 years" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 11/6).
