MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with 76ers-Celtics,
     followed by Hornets-Raptors.  The first non-NBA report, at
     6:45 into the broadcast, was Univ. of AZ-Chaminade Univ.
     NCAA men's basketball.  "NSR" reported on the NAPA 500 at
     15:36.  Last night's 12:00am ET 60-minute edition of ESPN's
     "SportsCenter" also led with 76ers-Celtics, followed by
     Hornets-Raptors.  The first non-NBA report, at 7:09, was
     Univ. of Louisville-Univ. of MD NCAA men's basketball.
     "SportsCenter" reported on the NAPA 500 at 13:55.  Last
     night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports
     Tonight" was pre-empted due to Election 2000 (THE DAILY). 
          BIG NUMBER FOR THE WAR IN FL: ABC earned an 8.3/14
     final rating for Saturday's FL-FSU game, marking the
     network's highest college football rating since the SEC
     Championship in December '98 (THE DAILY).
          LET HIS INSPIRATION FLOW: USA TODAY's Rudy Martzke
     reports that NBC has agreed to allow its NBA analyst Bill
     Walton join CBS for three weeks of the 2001 NCAA men's
     college basketball tournament (USA TODAY, 11/21). 
          ON THE WEB: In Chicago, Barry Temkin profiled
     BigTimeRecruit.com, a site established by Nets C Evan
     Eschmeyer and former Northwestern classmate Ben Flammang. 
     The site helps athletes "sell themselves to college
     coaches," but what is "relatively rare is that Eschmeyer and
     Flammang will not charge athletes or coaches to use their
     service."  The two believe they can make a profit from
     selling advertising and "cutting marketing and promotional
     deals with other companies, perhaps including pro teams"
     (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/19)....In Houston, John McClain
     reported that the Texans' Web site ranked 13th out of 32 NFL
     teams in hits during September, which he calls "incredibly
     impressive because they don't start playing until 2002"
     (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/19)....The IHL has signed a deal with
     IntheCrease.com to become the official Website provider for
     the league.  IntheCrease will develop and maintain the IHL's
     official site at www.theihl.com (IHL)....Users will be able
     to get live scores of all Fed Cup matches beginning today at
     www.usta.com, marking the first time there has been live
     scoring for the event (USTA)....SportsTicker will distribute
     English-language soccer news from EFE, the Spanish and Latin
     American news service (SportsTicker).
