MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "The Keith Olbermann Evening News" led with a
     report that singer Celine Dion is part of a group attempting
     to buy the Canadiens (see #17), followed by Colts-Packers. 
     The first report on Tiger Woods' win at the Johnnie Walker
     Golf Classic (JWGC) was at 9:10 into the broadcast, with
     1:04 of total coverage.  The first report on the Sanex WTA
     Tour Chase Championships was at 46:10.  Last night's 11:00pm
     ET 30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with
     Jets-Dolphins, followed by Colts-Packers.  The first non-NFL
     report, at 7:04, was Trail Blazers-Magic.  The first report
     on Woods at the JWGC was at 12:46, with 1:04 of total
     coverage.  "Sports Tonight" did not report on the Chase
     Championships.  Last night's 11:30pm ET 60-minute edition of
     ESPN's "SportsCenter" led with Raiders-Saints, followed by
     Jets-Dolphins.  The first non-NFL report, at 12:54, was the
     JWGC, with 1:23 of total coverage.  "SportsCenter" also did
     not report on the Chase Championships (THE DAILY).     
          GET IN THE GAME: USA TODAY's Michael Hiestand profiles
     ESPN's "College GameDay" in a Sports Cover Story.  GameDay's
     "average of 1.1 million cable TV households tops ratings for
     ESPN's SportsCenter and all other ESPN studio-type shows
     except some NFL shows" (USA TODAY, 11/20).
          NOTES: In Toronto, William Houston reported that CBC
     Sports Exec Dir Nancy Lee "may be the leading candidate to
     head up TSN's new Women's Sports Network, which is expected
     to be licensed in a few days" (GLOBE & MAIL, 11/18).
     ...Former WNBAer Cynthia Cooper has signed with N.Y.-based
     RLR Associates to represent her in broadcasting deals (RLR).

Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
