THROUGH ROSE-COLORED GLASSES: PACERS G A STAR IN WAITING?

With "another strong season," Pacers G Jalen Rose "could morph from an emerging star into a minor marketing icon," according to Stephen Beaven of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Burns Sports President Bob Williams said, "This year can be a real breakthrough for [Rose]." Rose currently has deals with Sprite and Reebok, while his agent, David Falk, "hopes to arrange some deals with Indianapolis companies." While Reebok does not have an ad campaign planned, Sprite will use Rose "in a movie trailer to be shown starting next month to promote the NBA All-Star game." Falk declined to say how much Rose receives from his two endorsement deals, but plans to "build his client's off-court career slowly." Falk: "Jalen is making close to $100 million from his contract. We're not in a rush to splash deals around." Last week, Rose launched the Jalen Rose Foundation, and Falk "hopes to sign some deals that would require companies working with Rose to fund his foundation" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 11/14).
