OLYMPIC NOTES

Rogers AT&T Wireless has become a gold sponsor of
Toronto's 2008 Olympic bid, and is donating about C$500,000
in cash and in-kind contributions to the effort. Toronto
2008 COO Bob Richardson noted that it has 12-14 corporate
     supporters (TORONTO SUN, 10/25).
SALT LAKE GAMES: The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Langdon
Brockinton reports that NBC sold about 55% of the ad time
for its broadcasts of the 2002 Games "via multi-Olympic
Games ad deals cut "before the Sydney Games (SBJ, 10/23
issue)....The AP's Paul Foy reports that the 2002 Games
"will have a break-even budget that will repay the state [of
UT] for building Olympic venues and leave $40M "to pay for
their upkeep." SLOC President Mitt Romney wrote to UT Gov.
Mike Leavitt: "We will be able to fully honor our
obligations to the state and all our creditors" (AP,
10/26)....Eschewing what "promised to be a highly publicized
trial," SLOC Managing Dir of Events Doug Arnot pleaded
guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor of "assaulting a pedestrian
during a crosswalk road-rage incident in March." Arnot
faces up to six months in jail (S.L. TRIBUNE, 10/27).
