MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with Yankees P Roger
     Clemens being fined for the bat-throwing incident in Game
     Two of the World Series, followed by White Sox GM Ron
     Schueler resigning from his post.  The first non-MLB report,
     at 4:55 into the broadcast, was jury selection in the Rae
     Carruth murder trial.  "NSR" had 6:11 of total World Series
     coverage.  Last night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition of
     CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" also led with the Clemens fine,
     followed by a World Series Game Three scoring update.  The
     first non-MLB report, at 3:04, was Flyers-Rangers.  "Sports
     Tonight" had 4:42 of total World Series coverage.  Last
     night's 11:30pm ET 60-minute edition of ESPN's
     "SportsCenter" led with Flyers-Rangers, followed by an
     injury update on Rams QB Kurt Warner.  "SportsCenter" had
     13:02 of total World Series coverage (THE DAILY).    
          DOWNWARD TREND? USA TODAY's Rudy Martzke reports that
     the 12.1 Nielsen rating for the Dolphins-Jets on Monday,
     "dropped the MNF overall season rating to 12.6, off 7% from
     last year's 13.6 season average."  While the game ended at
     about 1:20am ET, the rating "ended at 12:14am ET, when the
     last national commercial ran or the rating would have gone
     lower."  ABC Sports VP/Media Relations Mark Mandel: "We're
     not going to discuss when we run our commercials" (USA
     TODAY, 10/25)....FSN's Jim Rome, on the Dolphins-Jets "MNF"
     game: "I've never understood how you East-coasters deal with
     this.  That game ended at nearly 1:30am local time.  That's
     not [MNF].  That's Tuesday Morning Football" (FSN, 10/24).
          VISION QUEST: The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Langdon
     Brockinton reports that ABC Sports has signed a two-year
     deal to use Sportvision's virtual first-down marker for some
     of the net's college football telecasts.  ESPN/ABC Sports
     has signed Pacific Life and Qwest to sponsor the marker
     (SBJ, 10/23 issue)....A "special feature on stickhandling"
     with Penguins Owner Mario Lemieux and RW Jaromir Jagr,
     titled "How to Generate Offense," will air during the second
     intermission of ESPN's "NHL RULES!" Penguins-Rangers
     broadcast on Friday (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 10/25)....USA
     TODAY's Martzke cites Gould Media Service as reporting that
     preliminary estimates are that Tyson's bout against Andrew
     Golota last Friday drew "about" 300,000 PPV buys, compared
     to the 330,000 for the Lennox Lewis-Michael Grant bout
     earlier this year (USA TODAY, 10/25).
          ONLINE NOTES: MA-based SchoolSports and SI have
     partnered to launch the SI FundRaising Program, under which
     high school sports programs will raise money via sales of
     subscriptions for SI, SI for Women and SI for Kids
     (SchoolSports)....Fila Holding announced the formation of
     FilaNet, a wholly-owned subsidiary to manage the company's
     Business-to-Consumer Project via fila.net, as well as the
     global e-commerce effort of Fila and affiliated companies. 
     Vincenzo Russi, formerly Ernst & Young VP/e-Business
     Service, is CEO of FilaNet (Fila Holding).
