SENATORS READY TO GO FORWARD WITH DEVELOPMENT NEAR ARENA

The Corel Centre "is close to finalizing plans for a
'quality, name' hotel" to be built on site near the
facility, "with construction set to begin soon after the
completion of three high-tech office towers adjacent to the
hockey arena," according to Warren & Pappone of the OTTAWA
CITIZEN. Senators President Roy Mlakar: "We're close, we
want to get it done and it's a priority." While the
Senators have assembled a "target group" of developers for
the project, Mlakar "would not reveal any financial details
of the hotel plan." Mlakar: "Our priority is to get someone
in here of quality and we're zooming in on the hotel next,
any type of hotel on our property would only enhance
everything that we're doing." Mlakar said that the towers
are scheduled to be completed "sometime in mid-2002" with
the hotel construction to follow (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 10/19).
