EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          AD AGE reported that ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) promoted VIB
     SHARMA to Senior VP/Advertising & Integrated Sales, replacing
     CHRIS MCDONALD, whose "sudden departure" to the U.S. left the
     post vacant.  Sharma was formerly VP/Advertising Sales at ESS
     (AD AGE, 10/13)....Manchester United named PATRICK HARVERSON
     as Dir of Communications.  Harverson was the sports business
     correspondent for the Financial Times (FT.COM, 10/16)....The
     IBL announced VP/Basketball Operations GEORGE BLANEY has
     resigned to accept a coaching position with the Univ. of RI's
     men's basketball team (IBL)....In N.Y., Mike Freeman reported
     that the NFL Giants signed GM ERNIE ACCORSI to a two-year
     extension, making him among the ten "highest-paid" GMs in the
     NFL that do not also hold coaching titles (N.Y. TIMES,
     10/15)...The Marlins promoted TIM WHITTLE to Manager of 
     Finance for Ballpark Development Co., LLC, where he will
     oversee all financial aspects of the Marlins ballpark
     development project (THE DAILY).  Meanwhile, the Marlins' Dir
     of Media Relations ERIC CARINGTON has resigned (Mult.,
     10/15).....Hurricanes Dir of Media Relations JERRY PETERS has
     resigned to accept a position with BB&T.  Peters will remain 
     in his current position through October (Hurricanes).
