MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with Twins-Indians,
     followed by Blue Jays-Orioles.  The first non-MLB report, at
     10:20 into the broadcast, was a report on the Jets. "NSR"
     reported on the Olympics at 42:18, and had 5:40 of total
     Olympic coverage.  Last night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition
     of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with Braves-Mets, followed
     by Twins-Indians.  The first non-MLB report, at 6:11, was an
     Olympic update and "Sports Tonight" had 3:35 of total
     Olympic coverage.  Last night's 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of ESPN's "SportsCenter" led with Braves-Mets, followed by
     Phillies-Cubs.  The first non-MLB report, at 12:08, was
     reaction to 49ers WR Terrell Owens' fine and suspension. 
     "SportsCenter" reported on the Olympics at 13:18 and had
     1:38 of total Olympic coverage (THE DAILY).
          KNIGHT $2M DEAL? In N.Y., Keith Kelly reports former
     Univ. of IN men's basketball coach Bobby Knight is "shopping
     his autobiography and hoping to snag at least" $2M.  Knight
     is being handled by IMG's Mark Reiter (N.Y. POST, 9/27).
          NASCAR'S TV SKED: NASCAR released its 2001 Winston Cup
     schedule Tuesday, and in Dallas, Tony Fabrizio writes,
     "There were no surprises."  The new schedule includes 36
     points races and two traditional events, the Bud Shootout
     and The Winston.  Fabrizio: "That's an increase of two races
     from this year and a record for NASCAR's modern era" (DALLAS
     MORNING NEWS, 9/27).  NASCAR's 2001 schedule starts February
     11, when FSN Net begins its inaugural NASCAR season with the
     Bud Shootout.  Three NASCAR events will air on FX (HOLLYWOOD
     REPORTER, 9/27).  Twenty-seven Winston Cup races in 2001
     will air on either Fox or NBC (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 9/27).
