DEALS & DOLLARS: MARKETING ARM REAPS BENEFIT OF OMNICOM DEAL

          AGENCY NEWS: In Dallas, Richard Alm cites The Marketing
     Arm CEO Ray Clark as saying that his agency's recent
     acquisition of Steiner Sports Marketing via the Omnicom
     Group (see THE DAILY, 9/15) "represents the first fruits" of
     last year's deal to be acquired by Omnicom.  Clark added
     that "as many as a half-dozen other purchases are in
     negotiations" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/22)....Aspen Skiing
     Co. has enlisted Workhorse Advertising as its new agency.
     Aspen Skiing had been with "industry powerhouses" Hal Riney,
     S.F., and Cole & Weber, Seattle, throughout the '80s and
     most of the '90s (ASPEN TIMES, 9/19)....ABA 2000 retained
     L.A.-based Blagman Media to assist in the media, marketing
     and syndication campaign for its December re-launch (ABA).
          MANDALAY TO PRODUCE MLB AWARDS: Kip and Kern Konwiser,
     who head the Mandalay Sports & Urban Entertainment division,
     will serve as Executive Producers of the MLB Players Choice
     Awards in association with ESPN.  The program is scheduled
     to air live November 3 on ESPN (Mandalay)....Rick Honeycutt
     Sportswear has signed on to become the exclusive supplier of
     apparel for the MLB Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA).
          MINOR LEAGUE HOCKEY: The ECHL signed DirecTV as the
     league's official satellite provider.  The deal allows
     DirecTV to promote its NHL Center Ice package.  Meanwhile,
     PopMail.com has signed a deal to provide the ECHL and nine
     of its teams an affinity-based e-mail service  (ECHL)....The
     AHL has signed S&P Apparel as the official jersey supplier
     for the league and its teams (AHL).
          

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
