MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition
     of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with a four-team trade in
     the NBA that included Patrick Ewing being sent to the
     Sonics, followed by Indians-Red Sox.  "Sports Tonight"
     reported on the Olympics at 9:08 into the broadcast and had
     4:09 of total Olympic coverage.  Last night's 12:00am ET 60-
     minute edition of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with
     the Ewing trade, followed by Astros-Cardinals.  "NSR" first
     reported on the Olympics at 17:50 and had 10:35 of total
     Olympic coverage.  Last night's 1:00am ET 60-minute edition
     of ESPN's "SportsCenter" also led with the Ewing trade,
     followed by Astros-Cardinals.  "SportsCenter" reported on
     the Olympics at 22:15 and 4:19 of total Olympic coverage.
          NOTES: AD AGE lists its "Media Mavens" for 2000, whose
     "cutting-edge techniques and missionary zeal" help them
     "stand out."  Among those named: CBS President of Ad Sales
     Joe Abruzzese and Turner Sports President Mark Lazarus. 
     Lazarus "is the only top executive at the national sports
     cable level overseeing his company's sales/marketing and
     production/programming efforts" (AD AGE, 9/18)....Cowboys LB
     Dexter Coakley said that the "toughest part" about wearing a
     mic during the "MNF" game against the Redskins "was not
     necessarily watching what he said -- because he doesn't
     'curse' anyway -- but keeping the whole thing a secret from
     his teammates" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 9/21).
