FLEETBOSTON REPORTEDLY HAS MORE BAD NEWS ON FENWAY BALLPARK

People close to the Red Sox and the team's plans to
build a new ballpark are urging the team "to mull
alternatives as the outlook darkens on the team's quest to
finance" the new, 44,000-seat facility, according to Scott
Van Voorhis of the BOSTON HERALD. Sources "close to the
deal" say that FleetBoston Financial, the team's financial
advisor, is "preparing to deliver a preliminary report"
showing that the team's current array of ballpark financing
scenarios "fails to produce a big enough profit margin for
the Sox." Fleet "is expected" to tell Red Sox CEO John
Harrington that the new ballpark's profit margin, "under
current scenarios," could fall below 10% (BO. HERALD, 9/14).
