Facilities Venues

FACILITY NOTES

WHAT'S IN A NAME? While the Patriots will receive
"about" $8M per year from CMGI for the first ten years of
its 15-year naming rights deal, team Owner Robert Kraft
said, "This is going to be the first time when a naming-
rights deal is going to be more than just a name. The value
of that company is going to rub off on the fans in the
experience they have inside the stadium and the experience
they have during the week when they interact on
Patriots.com." Kraft noted the design of the main concourse
at the facility will feature skylights, which enables fans
at concession stands to be able to watch the game through
the opening behind them (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/12).
NOTES: In Pittsburgh, Johnna Pro writes that the
Pirates "hit a home run yesterday" with the announcement
that fans will be allowed to bring food and some beverages
into the new PNC Park next year. Pirates VP/New Ballpark
Development Steve Greenberg calls the decision "part of our
effort to continue to be fan friendly." Fans "may carry in
food and small drink containers" inside to the park, but
large plastic bottles won't be allowed (POST-GAZETTE, 9/12).
