THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT: JETER'S NEW BOOK TO BENEFIT CHILDREN

Yankees SS DEREK JETER has written a book with the N.Y.
Times' JACK CURRY called "The Life You Imagine," which is
about "growing up loving baseball," according to Clemente
Lisi of the N.Y. POST. But instead of "pocketing the
sizable profit he'll make" on the book, Jeter "is donating a
large portion of his earnings to help fund baseball clinics,
college scholarships and various after-school programs" in
N.Y. Jeter will launch "Derek Jeter Day" today "to focus
attention on his charity programs," as he will make multiple
TV appearances and sign copies of his book at the Barnes &
Noble at Rockefeller Center (N.Y. POST, 9/10). Jeter
appeared on "GMA" to promote the book and took questions
from children in the audience. One boy asked, "Do you like
[Yankees Owner] GEORGE STEINBRENNER?" Jeter said with a
smile, "He's one of my best friends. I can't say enough
good things about him" ("GMA," ABC, 9/11). Jeter was also a
guest on this morning's "Live! With Regis" (THE DAILY).
