SPORTS ON THE WEB: SEASONTICKET.COM'S LATEST DEAL WITH MLS

          Seasonticket.com and MLS have launched a personalized
     video highlight service, accessible via www.MLSnet.com and
     seasonticket.com.  Users can create customized highlight
     shows and view scores and statistics (Seasonticket.com).
          WEB NOTES: The Premier League's Leeds United has
     selected SmallWorld.com to build and power its own int'l
     soccer fantasy game called Leeds United Fantasy Manager
     (SmallWorld.com)....Lycos is holding the Lycos Sports
     Charity Tennis Auction, where consumers bid for various
     tennis prizes around the U.S. Open.  The chance to play
     tennis against Martina Hingis went for $1,100. Other options
     include spending a day with Octagon tennis agent Tom Ross or
     spending a day with tennis coach Dean Goldfine.  Items
     purchased through the auction will benefit charities like
     the World Health Organization's Match Point against Polio
     Campaign (Lycos)....Total Sports has added MS State Univ.,
     the Univ. of Detroit Mercy and the Big Sky Conference to its
     Total Sports College Network with newly designed Web sites
     that launched this month (Total Sports)....GOLF WORLD's Stu
     Schneider reviews Web sites coverage of the PGA
     Championship: "I sampled more than a dozen sites, from
     biggies such as ESPN and SportsLine to specialty sites such
     as golf.com.  Most did some things reasonably well, but
     there really wasn't one site that offered the Full Monty." 
     Schneider, on The Golf Channel's site, which had just been
     relaunched: "After heavily promoting a relaunch as 'Golf's
     homepage,' technical problems kept it offline for all of
     Thursday and part of Friday" (GOLF WORLD, 8/25 issue).
