MAPPING A PLAN FOR GROWTH: NBA, SFX TARGET SOUTHEASTERN U.S.

          Roanoke, VA, "is under consideration" as one of the     sites for a franchise when the NBA begins its National     Basketball Developmental League (NBDL) in November, 2001,     according to Jack Bogaczyk of the ROANOKE TIMES.  NBA Senior     Dir of Corporate Communications Mike Bass said the NBDL     plans to open its first season in eight Southeastern cities     with "no pro (basketball) franchises or major college     teams."  SFX Music VP/Baltimore-Washington region Wilson     Rogers "confirmed" Roanoke is among "a list of cities in the     Southeast" being considered for an NBDL franchise and that     Hampton is the other VA city "under consideration."  Wilson     adds that the NBA/SFX venture "already has made visits to,     or will go to" Charleston, SC; Pensacola, FL; Asheville and     Fayetteville, NC; Biloxi, MS and Bossier City, LA.  Rogers     also said that the NBA and SFX "are targeting cities and     markets with a population ceiling" of 750,000, and arenas     with about 10,000 or fewer seats (ROANOKE TIMES, 8/25).
