One of SMG's first jobs will be to "develop staffing requirements" for the facility (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 8/25)....A group of Miami "community leaders," business reps and Univ. of Miami (FL) officials is "exploring ways to attract more events and to raise money" to pay for renovations at the Orange Bowl. The group is looking at funding options ranging from selling the building's naming rights to keeping sales taxes from concessions, merchandise and tickets (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 8/21)....South Boston (VA) Speedway announced this week that "it will not host" a BGN race next season, becoming the second track on this year's schedule to say that it "will not be part" of the series in 2001.
